Modernisation of a century-old village shop has brought the latest in retail refrigeration technology to rural Norfolk. After a major renovation, Dickleburgh Store, 17 miles south of Norwich, now boasts a modern appearance – and a Daikin ZEAS condensing unit with booster, enabling it to display a wide range of chilled and frozen products in an environment designed to safeguard freshness.
ZEAS updates refrigeration technology for rural convenience store
Store owner Mike Humphreys chose the space-saving ZEAS solution after calculations showed it would use just 30% of the power needed for the five non-Daikin condensing units chilling the cabinets in his other village store, in nearby Kenninghall.
“The operating cost savings resulting from greater efficiency should give me a payback for the additional capital cost of the ZEAS unit within 18 months.”
Mike Humphreys, owner.
“We were also able to assure the owner that the ZEAS system would not disturb the neighbours – an important consideration because the shop is close to residential properties."
Adrian Bonfield, Branch Manager, Adcock Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
Powerful, energy-efficient solution
The single 15hp ZEAS unit, designed for high efficiency and low operating costs, maintains 4oC in the 12 metres of chilled cabinets and, with the help of the booster, -21oC in the 3.2 metres of freezer cabinets in the convenience store. The cooling is delivered via DX coils in the cabinets. ZEAS condensing units are designed as a compact yet powerful and energy efficient solution for refrigeration requirements in a wide range of applications with fluctuating requirements. Typically, they are found in supermarkets, hotels, restaurants, hospitals and a range of food production facilities.
