The heat pump revolution

Step into the renewables market with Daikin

The move towards heat pumps

Our net zero commitment

The UK government is committed to reaching net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. This will mark the end of Britain's contribution to global warming. It's a huge step in the right direction, and we all need to play our part.

A focus on sustainability

In order to meet the UK's target of net zero by 2050, switching to sustainable energy is critical. This means we need to replace our petrol and diesel cars with electric vehicles. And we need to swap gas and oil-fired boilers with low-carbon alternatives.

It is likely that the government will implement a ban on gas boilers as soon as 2025.

Moving away from boilers

Currently, the gas and oil boiler ban in 2025 only applies to newbuild properties. But it is clear that the government is planning to encourage wider uptake of alternative solutions.

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme, which launched in May 2022, provides UK homeowners with a financial incentive to switch to a lower-carbon heating system. And the latest ECO+ scheme, launched in November 2022, will see hundreds of thousands of homes receive new insulation.

Possible total ban

There is a possibility that, in time, the government will put a complete gas boiler ban in place. The home heating market is definitely moving towards this final destination, and we all must be ready for this shift towards renewables.

Now is the time to make sure you are fully trained and ready for the switch.

Introducing heat pumps

What are heat pumps?

Heat pumps offer a highly efficient, low-carbon alternative to the traditional boiler. The eco-friendly technology works completely differently from a standard heater; instead of generating heat, a heat pump simply moves it around.

How do they work?

Heat pumps operate in a similar way to a fridge, which extracts heat from inside and transfers it outside. To provide home heating, this process is reversed. An air source heat pump will extract heat from the air outside the home before transferring it into a hot water or heating system.

The sustainable solution

There are a few different types of heat pump. But they all have one thing in common: they're powered mainly by renewable energy, making them one of the most sustainable heating solutions available today. In fact, our latest figures show that having a heat pump installed does more to reduce your carbon footprint than giving up a car.

The economic solution

Heat pumps use less power to run than standard heating systems. Heat pump systems can be three or four times more efficient than an electric heater. And swapping from a fossil fuel boiler to an air source heat pump could save an average household over £250 per year in energy costs.

Quite simply, heat pump technology is changing the face of home heating.

How can Daikin help?

Keeping pace with change

UK homeowners are making changes to the way they live. They're changing everything from the cars they drive, how they shop and the energy they use. And, with an added push from the latest government incentives, they're switching to heat pumps as the eco-friendly way to heat their homes.

The Sustainable Home Network programme will help you turn this change to your advantage.
